Simple Things Sunday- April 29th

YThis week was a normal week. My daughter went back to school after a week vacation.
She's learning to read in Kindergarten so she officially read the first book to her baby brother. It was the cutest thing, he loves books and was very attentive.
The very first little plant is growing from my daughter's garden, she was so excited to discover it.
My little boy had his first bath in the big tub, how he loves it.
The kids watched the Muppets together, at least for a while (the baby). She watched it twice.
And today Sunday I enjoyed hearing the pitter patter of those little feet walking all over the place. It sounds like it's a man walking, those heavy footsteps.

Thank you for visiting! Have an awesome day!

Mommy Moments- I'm not sharing!

#8 'Makes you go Hmm? or Yumm!' There have been many firsts lately for this little man! Today it was a taste of his first frozen pop. You can tell it was his first, lol. He didn't even know how to hold it. So, this was his sister's frozen pop and she wanted him to taste it, just a little taste was all but he liked it and didn't want to give it back.

She had to go get her own.

Embrace the Camera- At the park

When I first started this blog, I didn't think I would post much but I have found so much inspiration like Embrace the Camera among other things. It has helped me to capture so many more moments that would have otherwise not been captured and I'm so grateful for that.

Last week I posted some pictures with my daughter and this week I am posting some pictures I took with my son at the park last week. He has lately been having many new experiences so I try to capture as much of that as I can. Here he is visiting the geese for the first time. He just stared at them like 'what are you?'.

At nine months he can already walk, so instead of sitting all the time on a stroller, we took a little walk.

There have to be some of me kissing him, I can never get tired of that, I do hope I can still do it when he's older.

How he loves the swing, he can sit there for half an hour and not get sick of it. I love the way he laughs when he is swinging.

Thank you for visiting!

Edit Me Challenge- Week 17

This week I'm editing this tulips photograph. The guest judge this week is Diane from Butterflies In Time Photography.

This is my edit: I'm only editing this image, I didn't take this photograph.

I did some adjustments in photoshop like a little bit of desaturation. I added a texture from Sarah Gardner from her Renaissance Collection. One layer on overlay 100% and another on overlay 20%. I also added a Pixel Dust texture called Linen blind on soft light 50%. I desaturated the textures a bit because I wanted mostly the texture but not the color and I brushed it off on a low opacity brush from the tulips. I cloned out the bit of tulip on the bottom right also.

Mommy Moments- A love for books

They inherited their love of books from me. I can already tell that he loves it because he sits listening intently at his sister or I read.

#2 'Puts a smile on my face' This image makes me smile because of the way they are engaged in the book. Even the baby, who leaves everything to listen to a story. His little face here says it all.

Mommy Moments- the bottle

I am still struggling with teaching the baby how to drink from a bottle or other type of cup. But, I try everyday with the daily bottle but he seems to think it's a toy. He hardly drinks from it. I give him 2 months to learn because I want to stop or reduce the breast feeding.

#3 'Depth of Field' So, this image I shot using a wide aperture and focused on the bottle to get a shallow DOF. I love how he is totally ignoring the bottle in this one and is instead interested in something else because it reflects exactly how he feels about this whole thing.

These are other images I captured of him with the bottle. Im glad I captured these because I don't have a lot of pictures with him and a bottle.

Texture Tuesday- the WaterColor eDition

Happy Tuesday! This week's texture tuesday is about using the watercolor textures 'oh my' or 'let go'.
I loved working with these textures, especially with these images whose subject has a lot of yellow in them. There's a little story behind each one.

For this one, as I was making the lemonade for the pictures I was thinking of a quote about lemons. So I say "When life gives you lemons" my 6 year old daughter finishes the quote for me by saying "you get what you get and you don't get upset". I don't know where she heard it but, when I gave her some lemonade she didn't like it. I don't know why because it was good, and I told her it's the same thing like the lemonade we buy in summer which she loves. I think she was being silly!!

Another story about my daughter for these next images. We went to the playground around noon that day and afterwards I told her that I wanted flowers for the pictures. So, she looks at the weeds in the park and starts picking a couple and tells me 'here are some flowers'. So, I go with it and we pick a whole bunch. When we get home, I set up these shots outside and she helps me arrange them in the vase.

She set the flowers in this one herself:

Photo a day-Mommy Moments

#10 'Laughter' Today when my daughter woke and brushed her teeth she came back worried because her tooth was very wiggly and ready to be pulled. She is somewhat dramatic, and had a piece of paper towel in her mouth for like an hour. I totally wanted to see her smile so I was telling her silly things to make her laugh. These really makes me smile every time I see them!! She's trying to hold it in!

#9 'Rule of Thirds' Another rainy day today. She is looking outside at the dreary day and thinking that she will need to wear her rain boots.

Simple Things Sunday- April 22nd

This week's simple things:
This week was school vacation for my daughter so it was a really relaxed week.
The weather had been nice all week for the most part so lots of outside play.
I posted for the 'Embrace the camera' challenge, I was inspired by Rebecca Cooper, it was really nice being in front of the camera with my daughter this time (here).
Bought some seed and had my daughter help, she loves to help, we planted seeds in cups. Hopefully I will eat some tomatoes and cucumbers.
I enjoyed a gorgeous day at the park with the kids, some carousel rides and playing at playground.

I will continue photographing the progression of this until the tomatoes are in a salad and maybe make a little book.

Photo a Day Mommy Moments

#1 'Where I spend my day'. This is where he spends his time for the most part while in the house, where his toys are. I had to babyproof the stairs recently because he was starting to climb them. So I took this picture of him on the other side of the gate playing.

#7 'Messy Moments'. This was actually his first time eating spaghetti by himself. He had a lot of fun with it and even though most of it went to the floor, he did eat some.

Very excited to have won for the category of Messy moments with the above picture!
